"A magical interpretation." The Herald
Young cellist Danjulo Ishizaka is not only a talent but a true musical personality. Fundamentally influenced by the great master Boris Pergamenschikov, from whom he received direct tutelage from 1998 to 2004, Ishizaka's impressive technique and expressive tone are simply dazzling.
Chosen for the New Generation Artists scheme by the BBC, Ishizaka made his Carnegie Hall debut in 2006. He has performed in Europe, the US, Russia and Japan, collaborating with such celebrated artists as Gidon Kremer as well as renowned orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
Two romantic main bills, Schumann's Fantasiestück and Brahms' second sonata, are superb fits for Ishizaka's expressive character and he will also perform one of the most vigorous pieces of music written for cello, Kodály's sonata for unaccompanied cello. He will be accompanied by his brother Kiyondo, a national prize winner of Jugend musiziert and a talented chamber musician.
