Bruckner’s finest work
Apocalyptic - a monumental piece over 80 minutes
Renowned Bruckner master
Edo de Waart’s heartfelt interpretation
Any performance of a symphony by Bruckner is a major occasion, and Edo de Waart's inspired interpretation of the monumental Eighth is no exception. "This symphony is the creation of a giant, surpassing in spiritual dimension, fertility and grandeur all other symphonies by this master", was how Hugo Wolf put it at the symphony's 1892 premiere in Vienna. Dedicated to Emperor Franz Joseph, he offered to finance the printing of the work.
De Waart, master of Bruckner, will bring his signature interpretation of this orchestral tour de force to the Festival.
