2012 Hong Kong Arts Festival - Asia Pacific Dance Platform

Each year the Asia Pacific Dance Platform (APDP) gives promising dance artists from the region the opportunity to showcase their choreography. For the fourth edition of APDP three choreographers/dancers perform their latest works on life, society and war.

KENTARO!! | Japan

Hip hop star, KENTARO!!, known for his unique style that blends hip hop, techno and pop rock, explores the repetition found in our daily lives in Hello, Goodbye, Repeat etc…, and asks: how often do we say hello and goodbye every day? Is this what our lives have become? The energetic music, which he co-writes, coupled with his high-octane dance moves combine to make a stand out performance.

About Living
Chou Shu-yi | Taiwan

Choreographer Chou’s solo work 1875 Ravel and Bolero won the Sadler’s Wells online Global Dance Contest. He co-founded Taiwan’s first all-male dance company, Horse, which performed at the Joyce Theater in New York. Chou is known as a “precocious and brilliant dancer whose movements convey grace and purity.” (PAR, Taiwan). About Living sheds light upon the very act of living and how it is at times more difficult than death.

Eko Supriyanto | Indonesia

Supriyanto began studying Javanese court dance in the Surakarta style and Indonesian martial arts with his grandfather in Magalnag, Central Java. He choreographs and performs in opera, such as John Adams’ Flowering Tree; works in contemporary theatre and in Broadway musicals, including The Lion King; and toured with Madonna as a dancer. His latest work Soldier studies the impossible choice men make when following orders.
