One Messiah.
Two all-Handel concerts.
The Sixteen.
With over 100 acclaimed recordings and numerous awards — including the Grand Prix du Disque for the Messiah — this internationally acclaimed choir and period-instrument orchestra is set to serve a Baroque feast of clarity and precision fused with beauty and dramatic intensity.
Specialising in a wide range of early music literature, The Sixteen excels at bringing fresh insight into Renaissance and Baroque music as well as other great works of our time. The exceptional artistic vision of founder and music director Harry Christophers plays a key role in the ensemble’s continued vitality. In addition to building a glittering recording catalogue under its own label, The Sixteen has recently been featured in the highly successful BBC television documentary, Sacred Music.
In its two concerts, Harry Christophers and The Sixteen perform Handel’s most famous works. The beautiful coronation anthem for King George II, a devotional hymn and two joyous Latin settings of psalms Nisi Dominus and Dixit Dominus are presented in the first concert and the incomparable Messiah will be presented in the second.
