Australian Chamber Orchestra
“If there's a better chamber orchestra in the world today, I haven't heard it.“ The Guardian
"The best chamber orchestra on earth." The Times
Led and inspired by Richard Tognetti, the Australian Chamber Orchestra is equally at home with classical concerts and collaborations with artists from diverse genres playing as an electro-acoustic collective. From classical Haydn to contemporary compositions, the two concerts are an exploration of the diversity of Western music history performed with the ensemble’s signature vitality and virtuosity.
Alice Sara Ott joins the ensemble for Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No 1, while Tognetti leads the Mozart’s Violin Concerto No 4 on his 1743 Guarneri del Gesù violin and Brett Dean’s Electric Preludes on his electric violin.
The ensemble reaffirms the potency and relevance of chamber music in our fast paced, ever changing world.

Maestro’s Art
It all looks so deceptively easy, waving your hands in the air to time a beat. Conducting is so much more: unifying performers, setting tempo, and shaping the sound. The challenges faced by a conductor for ballet is quite different than for an ensemble. Great conductors are also talented musicians. In this series, learn about the differences, and the opportunities to shape great performances.
