Special Remarks Special Remarks

“What a blast. Economics has never been more playfully dissected…[a] gorgeous, gaudy musical.” The Guardian

Rock, gospel and blues, myth to urban legend, New York theatre pioneers the TEAM takes you on a musical voyage through the highs and the lows of the American dream.

Following the mythic journey of a young Dutch couple from Amsterdam to New Amsterdam (known today as New York) in 1624 and a contemporary romance of two jobless lovers in Las Vegas, Mission Drift is a wild musical that charts the rise and fall of capitalism through dance, story-telling and live music.

“We love growth, we just grew too fast”— so they say in Las Vegas.

Global Theatre

Broadway, West End, Hong Kong, Berlin – wherever you are, theatre is made of the same elements: a script, actors, set, costume, lighting and so on. The story and how it’s told is what makes one production unique from another. In this series of talks, meet-the-artist sessions, backstage tours and more, we explore these differences in theatre from around the world – from cultural misunderstandings to reality bites to the intersection of the real and the virtual.

Staging the American Dream
How does one chart 400 years of American history and the meaning of land ownership in the American dream into one rocking musical journey? Let TEAM artistic director Rachel Chavkin and members of the ensemble share their insights with you.
