Heart of Coral Rerun in Taiwan!
1 October 2014
Enjoying a tremendous success at the 41st Hong Kong Arts Festival in 2013, Heart of Coral is invited by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department to do a rerun in Hong Kong Week in Taipei on October 31st and November 1st this year. Heart of Coral is a chamber opera about the life of the legendary Chinese female writer Xiao Hong written by the emerging playwright Yan Yu from Northeastern China.
Rejecting the common conception that Xiao Hong’s life was a tragedy, Heart of Coral is a three-act opera that pays respects to Xiao with her ferocious and fearless approach to life, leaving behind her works which have transcended the social and political contexts which she failed to break free from her time. With delicate staging by Helen Lai, daring instrumentation by Chan Hing-yan and brilliant conducting by Lio Kuokman, this is an absolute must-see production for art and literary lovers. Book Now!
