Choose your own adventure through the world of dance
Make your own meaning in this multi-channel production
Contemporary dancers are notoriously bad at articulating the ideas behind their work, leaving audiences scratching their heads over vague synopses and fumbling choreographers’ notes. With these lacklustre frames of reference, how can anyone be expected to appreciate contemporary dance?
Fed up with the linguistic impossibility of communicating movement, choreographer Victor Fung has brought his signature humour to a new interactive dance experience that puts the audience in the driver’s seat, free to choose their own arts appreciation adventure from multiple audio channels. How will viewers’ interpretation of the work change if they listen to the choreographer’s commentary, or the critic’s reviews, or the audience’s musings? What if they shut out all the noise and only listen to the dancer’s bodies?
Kenny Leung and Tsang Wing-fai join Fung in taking viewers on this playful, ear-opening journey of discovery in Finding Meaning in an Uncertain World—a delightful follow-up to Fung’s wry exploration of dancer–choreographer power dynamics in From the Top (2015 CDS).
