A triumphant return to the HKAF with two kaleidoscopes of Russian and world dance
One of Russia’s greatest dance companies presents its unique world view

“Lives up to its hype as a national treasure, potently demonstrating the Russian genius for dance.” The Guardian

Following its rapturous reception at the 2014 HKAF, the Igor Moiseyev Ballet makes a triumphant return with two exciting programmes of inspired dance that will culminate in what promises to be an unforgettable festival experience. Igor Moiseyev, a former Bolshoi Ballet principal dancer who went on to be recognized as one of the 20th century’s great choreographers, pioneered the integration of world and classical dance into a unique style–a style of which his company, founded in 1937, is universally acknowledged to be the greatest exponent. Resident since 1940 at Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, the Moiseyev ensemble tirelessly tours Moiseyev’s nearly 300 works to the world’s grand theatres and opera houses to both critical and popular acclaim. The 48th HKAF presents an unparalleled opportunity to see the enduring legacy of Igor Moiseyev–recipient of the UNESCO Mozart Medal for “outstanding contribution to world music culture” and the Government of Moscow Award for “Legend of the Century”.
