One of the brightest stars of Russian ballet brings to life one of the most charismatic figures in Russian history. Sergei Polunin takes on the demanding role of the mystic Grigori Rasputin, whose influence over the Russian royal family did so much to bring down the Romanov dynasty. Polunin, whose performances have been compared to those of Mikhail Baryshnikov and Rudolf Nureyev at the height of their powers, became the London Royal Ballet’s youngest ever principal dancer in 2010, then aged just 21. After two years he stunned the ballet world by leaving the company, and his reputation has since steadily grown. Now forging his own path in the world of ballet, he takes on one of the great roles of his career, starring in this compelling dance drama which explores the ambivalence between power and weakness, good and evil.
