Introduction

Anticipation is in the air, as Hong Kong Ballet celebrates love and passion in this Latin-flavoured gala programme brimming with breathtaking classical and contemporary pieces. Septime Webre’s Hong Kong premiere of Juanita y Alicia is a soulful work inspired by Webre's mother's family growing up in 1920s Havana, Cuba set to traditional Cuban music by the Buena Vista Social Club, while Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s electrifying Sombrerismo, with its six mesmerising men in bowler hats, returns to wow audiences alongside a sizzling pas de deux from Don Quixote packing some Latin heat! Other inspiring works include a captivating pas de deux from Flames of Paris and a pas de trois from Le Corsaire alongside a rarely seen excerpt from Marius Petipa’s Paquita, set in sunny Spain. Join us for a phenomenal night as unparalleled skill, passion and drama come together in a powerful fusion of virtuosity and creativity.
