About

Understand Beethoven with Beethoven!

Step into Beethoven’s creative world with the Belgian orchestra Anima Eterna Brugge and narrator Pieter Bergé for a fun weekend of two family concerts!

Beethoven’s Sixth “Pastoral” Symphony, a hymn to nature, will be performed in the matinee concert. With Beethoven as an imaginary companion and the orchestra as a guide, Bergé takes the audience on a scenic country walk to discover how musical instruments vividly portray sounds from Mother Nature, from the fierce booming of a thunderstorm to the lovely chirping of birds and the rushing of a stream.

In the evening concert featuring the remarkable Fifth Symphony, Bergé will guide the audience through Beethoven’s creative process with lively introductions and audience interaction, starting from the building blocks of the symphony’s famous “duh-duh-duh-duuuh” opening, which signifies fate knocking on the door. Edutainment for the whole family!
