“This cello prodigy belongs in the family of the greatest artists of all time” La Provence
After capturing at the age of 17 second prize at the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2011, and being named Instrumental Soloist of the Year at the French Victoires de la Musique in 2015, Edgar Moreau rose to prominence on the international stage and has established himself as “the rising star of the French cello” (Le Figaro) with his effortless virtuosity and dynamic performances.
In his return to Hong Kong, Moreau will dazzle with Haydn’s Cello Concerto No 1 under the baton of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta’s principal guest conductor Christoph Poppen, in a programme that also includes Beethoven’s sublime “Eroica” Symphony, as well as the world premiere of Sinfonietta artist associate Charles Kwong’s a fictional overture – an ahistorical reimagining of orchestral timbre that becomes one with the sonorities of nature.
