Founded in 1884, the National Theatre Brno is one of the Czech Republic’s most esteemed cultural institutions and a cornerstone of Central European operatic life. Based in the country’s second-largest city, the organisation encompasses distinguished opera, ballet and theatrical ensembles. It performs in three historic venues, including the Janáček Theatre.

Its deep connection to composer Leoš Janáček—who lived and worked in Brno—has made it a vital interpreter of his works and of the broad Czech repertoire, from Dvořák to Martinů. The National Theatre Brno is also acclaimed for its compelling productions of operatic masterworks from across Europe.

Its Hong Kong residency showcases this breadth with Tchaikovsky’s operatic masterpiece Eugene Onegin, Dvořák’s splendid Requiem and a chamber concert featuring musical gems by Czech composers.
