Experience a variety of sonatas, fugues and suites from a dream trio of Classical music legends, whose two-decade-long musical bond shines through on stage.
A sublime union of Baroque virtuosi results in an unparalleled musical partnership
Bach’s music has long been a sacred pursuit for classical musicians, whether in solitude or in collaboration. Three distinguished artists—each acclaimed in their own right—began a collaboration on Baroque music between 2006 and 2007 and continue to share stages today. Harpsichordist and conductor Trevor Pinnock, founder of the world-renowned Baroque ensemble The English Concert, joined Emmanuel Pahud, Principal Flute of the Berliner Philharmoniker, and cellist Jonathan Manson, a member of the Gramophone award-winning Phantasm Viol Consort, in creating unique soundscapes with period and modern instruments.
Over the years, their performances of Baroque works, particularly Bach sonatas, have demonstrated an exquisite interplay of flute, harpsichord and cello. Two decades on, these three masters remain devoted to their musical partnership grounded in a shared admiration and genuine love for Baroque music.
This concert will feature three of Bach’s well-known sonatas, which are cornerstones of the 18th-century flute repertoire. In addition, each master will present a solo work: Pinnock will offer a profound glimpse into his lifelong dialogue with Bach’s music as he interprets the expansive and ambitious Chromatic Fantasia and Fugue in D minor; Pahud will play one of Telemann’s Fantasia for solo flute, showcasing his expressive range and tonal brilliance; and Manson, while anchoring the ensemble with his cello, will offer a moment of introspection with one of Bach’s most beloved unaccompanied cello suites—a gentle pause for reflection.
Advance bookings will start at 10am on 16 October 2025
