The Art of the Prelude—Jaeden Izik-Dzurko Piano Recital

Jaeden Izik-Dzurko brings a piano recital that traces the arc of the Romantic prelude tradition from Chopin to Rachmaninov. Chopin’s Prelude in C-sharp minor, Op 45, opens the programme with a luminous, inward soliloquy. Scriabin’s early preludes from Op 11 follow—works still steeped in the Chopin tradition, their lyrical surfaces hinting at the restless imagination beneath. Franck’s Prelude, Chorale and Fugue is the programme’s architectural centrepiece: a monumental three-part work that builds from a contemplative opening to a blazing synthesis of all its themes. The recital culminates in Rachmaninov’s Ten Preludes, Op 23—music of sweeping emotional range, from brooding intensity to exuberant virtuosity.
