In this mixed-reality piano recital, experience Sakamoto’s performance once more as you watch his fingertips dance over the keyboard. This is a mirror reflecting his soul—where light and melody intertwine in a vision of eternity.

Sakamoto’s final notes: an eternal resonance of the soul

In the twilight of his life, iconic Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto returned to his altar—the piano. And although he may have left this world in 2023, his music lives on, not only through his timeless compositions but in a transcendent live performance that became the mixed reality solo concert KAGAMI. This is more than a show: it’s a luminous bridge to eternity where Sakamoto’s soul resonates in every note.

Through the delicate magic of mixed reality, audience members put on a lightweight headset and step into a world where they can stand beside the master, close enough to witness the gentle dance of his fingertips on the keys and the fleeting emotions that flicker across his face. In KAGAMI, Sakamoto is not a distant memory, but a living presence.

This immersive experience emerged from Sakamoto’s collaboration with Tin Drum, a pioneering US mixed reality studio, in his final years. Using advanced motion capture and spatial audio technology, Tin Drum preserved his final performance, capturing not just the music but the essence of Sakamoto as an artist—his serene intensity and profound bond with the piano. In KAGAMI, these moments can now stay with us forever, ensuring that Sakamoto’s presence remains everlasting.

Advance bookings will start at 10am on 16 October 2025
