Rezo

Aside from his successful career as a Soviet screenwriter, Rezo Gabriadze is perhaps best known as the founder of the Gabriadze Theatre and creator of beloved marionette masterpieces including Alfred and Violetta and Ramona—both featured in the 55th HKAF line-up—which revitalised the art of puppetry as a national treasure of Georgia. The audience will be able to catch a glimpse of the legendary puppeteer’s life and childhood through his personal sketches, which are animated and brought to life in Rezo, the award-winning animated documentary directed by his own son, Leo.
