You are cordially invited to step into the fascinating world of organ music and embark on an extraordinary journey with Cameron Carpenter, one of the most revolutionary and charismatic artists in contemporary classical music.
Famed for his dazzling virtuosity, unconventional interpretations and flamboyant stage presence, Carpenter has re-defined organ playing in the 21st century. A recipient of the Leonard Bernstein Award and the first organist ever to receive a Grammy nomination, he captivates audiences around the world with his bold musical vision and innovative performance style.
In this masterclass, participants will have an opportunity to explore the organ’s extraordinary expressive range and gain an insight into Carpenter’s highly individual techniques. You will also be introduced to the Rieger organ at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, an instrument with more than 8,000 pipes, widely regarded as one of the finest organs in Asia.
The Hong Kong Arts Festival is now inviting organ students to apply to take part in this masterclass and receive direct instruction from Carpenter. Interested applicants should email their names, contact details (email and telephone numbers), curriculum vitae, proposed repertoire, a short statement explaining why they wish to take part in the masterclass, and a video recording of them playing the first three minutes of their chosen piece to plus@hkaf.org by 16 January 2026. Successful candidates will be notified individually about further details, including payment arrangements.
The fees listed on this webpage apply to observers only and do not cover students receiving direct tuition.
Tickets are available for purchase from 10am on 12 December 2025, Friday, at art-mate.
