Discover the raw, beautiful tango culture from the southern part of Argentina

Beyond the streets of Buenos Aires, tango continues to evolve. Created in Bariloche, in the heart of Argentine Patagonia, the company DelOtroLado (“On the Other Side”) is directed by Silvana Grill, whose distinctive choreographic voice reveals a lesser known yet flourishing chapter of Argentina's tango culture.

Part I. Tangos Clásicos
Specially curated for HKAF audiences, Tangos Clásicos pays tribute to the golden age of tango and the legendary figures who shaped the musical soul of Argentina. Through a journey that revisits the tango of the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s, the performance highlights the diversity, relevance and constant transformation of the genre. The show offers a musical journey that links new versions of classic tangos with original compositions by Ramiro Gallo.

Part II. Patagonia
The company brings an immersive stage experience that explores the geography of Argentine tango from a unique perspective. In contrast to the traditional image of Buenos Aires tango, this production presents a poetic vision rooted in Argentine Patagonia, where the wind, the vastness of the landscape and the introspection of daily life shape a distinctive dance style.

Each scene unfolds like a moving postcard, capturing the memories, customs and sensibilities of different regions of the country through a blend of dance, live music, physical theatre and striking visual projections. Performed live by the acclaimed Ramiro Gallo Quintet, the production is driven by original scores and arrangements, music by composers from across Argentina and contemporary vocal tangos.
